I assume they mean "250 GT", and the shipping agent that prepped the car
probably ends up with the tab for the diversion, but interesting
nonetheless. HazMat is a silent, and often undocumented, killer.

Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2001 16:44:20 EDT
A Lufthansa Boeing 747 en route from Frankfurt To Los Angeles turned
back six
minutes after take off when the cabin was filled with petrol fumes from
a
Ferrari in the hold. Experts who checked the aircraft after it landed
discovered a 1962 Ferrari 150 GT in the hold which they reported had
leaked
petrol. The car, worth about half a million pounds, was being flown to
the US
by a Swiss millionaire. A spokesman for Lufthansa warned: "If we prove
that
the Ferrari was the reason for the precautionary landing, the owner will
have
to pay all the costs."
