Andy,
A head gasket is cheaper though and probably would do less damage especially
if a valve dropped - on top of the piston - when running :(
Valves = valve job, head truing and gaskets
Head gasket = truing and gaskets
Could also be a cracked head - something similar to the one on my shoulders
