Hello,
Returned from Shasta yesterday Sunday afternoon after a 5 hour blast down the
highway with the BADROC crew. As always, it was great to see everyone again.
This being my fifth year as a Shasta attendee I am finding that each year I
am looking more and more forward to seeing my extended family. My Datsun
family.
The show and shine was wonderful and then quality of cars was amazing. And
to top that there were over 67 Roadsters at the Roadster Meet. And even
several more at the All Datsun Meet. Just as the numbers of 510's seem to
dwindle Roadsters are popping up all over the place. And not only that, they
are appearing in awesome condition. I think that this List has alot to do
with it.
The weather seemed to cooperate this year. It almost seemed that rain was a
possibility but.... it stayed dry and slightly cloudy. Tolerable temps in
the high 80's made this years Shasta quite pleasent. Then there were the
usual parties. The Mt Air Lodge was hopping with Datsun activity as there
must have been at least two dozen Datsuns in the parking lot. THen across
the street at the Strawberry Valley Inn the Wine was flowing and the Cheese
was being cut as folks talked Roadsters. ;>)
The BADROC Caravan home had about 10 cars. It was so cool to see all of
those cars snaking there way down the highway interstate. Speeds were kept
to a comfortable 65-75 and the food at the lunchstop was delicious. One by
one fellow BADROC'rs peeled off from the pack as we reached their interchange
or exit. That was when it really hit me that the Shasta event had come to a
close.
I look forward to the next meet in 2002. To see old friends and meet new
folks.
Ciao!
Michael "Calspeed" Carion
ps: I heard a rumor that in 2002 there is a possibility that the Roadster
event may not be the same weekend as the All Datsun Meet. I hope it isnt so.
