Solex carbs question

All,

Did Datsun use the same type of dual Solex carburetors used in Mercedes Benz 
190 SL class?

If so, Why are the MB vendors charge so much less (around $300-450 per 
carb.)as oppose to $ 1500-$ 2500 (for a set)quoted by the group?
