Danger. Don't just cut power to these systems without understanding EXACTLY
what you are doing first. Thomas' suggestion should work on the less
sophisticated systems but you should talk to a tech who has been factory
trained on the particular system first.
One more BMW story. While I was at Kelly BMW in Columbus last month the
told me they had a guy with a new Z3 who had been driving along and had the
car do 180 on him for no apparent reason. The traction control had sensed a
spin (incorrectly) and applied brakes to one rear wheel to correct which
actually caused the spin. After looking at the car they determined that the
aftermarket alarm system the guy had installed by some stereo shop had it's
power supply wired into the same circuit with the steering angle sensor.
That cause a variation in the resistance the ECU saw from the steering angle
sensor which caused the system to think the steering wheel had suddenly been
moved violently to one direction which would have caused a spin had that
actually been the case. Point is this guy could have been killed (or killed
someone else) because the "trained" people who installed his aftermarket
alarm didn't understand that they were altering other systems on the car.
If you're going to mess with potentially safety related stuff just be damn
sure that you know exactly what you're doing before you do it.

If you dont like ABS brakes, why not remove the
fuse for the ABS control unit? Then you will have
normal brakes without ABS.
