Coil Wires and coil

My coil has 4 wires going to it.
One to the negative post, going back into harness
Three to the positive post, one from the resistor, two from the harness.

The Sports Imports schematic shows only two going to the positive post of the
coil, one from the resistor and one from the harness.

Somehow I donbt think that this is right.

Can you guys help me find out what is what?

Also is a coil just a coil, or are they car-Datsun-points specific?
