FWIW
I saw this car while visiting friends in PA a few years back. It's owned by
a high school teacher if I remember correctly. A really straight, nice
looking car. Looked mostly original except for the "stick on" vinyl side
moulding strips.

Dear Nathan,

It seems to me that Rich Leamer's beautiful 69 2000, which is the one
pictured in the ad that Paul alerted us to, has authentic side moulding.

Mine, which you can also see in the "East" on Mark Dent's "126 and
Counting" map,
http://www.datsunroadsters.com/dats96.html
bears the same model Parrish hardtop as Leamer's, but with vinyl side
moulding in place of the stainless. If you roll down to the 3rd of the 3
snaps of my car, you'll find it with the hardtop on. Perhaps you saw it at
an OROC gathering? Or at the Carlisle PA show, May 15 of '99?

I'm flattered that you recall it looking as nice as Rich's. Leamer's 5
pictures are at position #49 (out of 50) in the East on Dent's page, and
mine is #36 there.

My son David (whose "daily" is an '85 Alfa Spider) found and acquired my
Roadster for me as a B-day gift, almost 3 years ago, nearly abandoned in
N.C. I had it repainted almost immediately. It didn't have any side
moulding left. So, when I found out the going price for a good set of
stainless, I opted for the vinyl, instead. The $$$ I saved that way have
since gone to replace the front calipers, where I do prefer the OEM parts
to be in proper working order -- especially as I use mine as a "daily,"
except when the roads are whiter than the sky -- as these days are,
unfortunately.

The irony about the hardtop is this. I was able to backtrack ownership of
my Roadster to an anonymous PO^3 in Texas during the time the hardtop was
likely purchased from Parrish Plastics. The Parrish Plastics factory/shop
is located less than 3 miles from my home in the South Hills of
Pittsburgh! I showed Tom Parrish the car with "his" top on it several
years ago. He was all smiles, as was I.

Perhaps we'll meet up again at another Roadster event. Do you plan a trip
to Western PA in the near future? Perhaps Watkins Glenn in the Fall?

Cordially,
Teddy
