For Sale in the Los Angeles / LAX area:
1963 Datsun L-320 Pickup Truck with 1600 Roadster drivetrain....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rough and rusty, some dents and body rot, hack-job engine swap
done 20 years ago, engine runs well, windshield only has a few
hundred miles on it, heavily modified/rewelded Pacesetter header,
no center tunnel sheetmetal (thus the "hack" part of the swap),
worn-out Chevy alternator with an early Chrysler single-wire regulator,
(simple and effective charging system) battery is 15 years old and
can't hold a charge even if the alternator worked. Has nice spiffy
Hella H4 headlights though :-)
Currently not safe to drive due to some sort of problem with brakes'
hydraulic system (left front locks up/right front might not be working).
Could be a bad wheel cylinder or collapsed rubber brake hose up
front, dunno. Truck is basically a life-support system for the Roadster
drivetrain :-) I've owned it for 25 years. It'll need to be flat-bedded
or towed away to get it home. The truck is good to rob of it's drivetrain,
but slap an old 1500 Roadster drivetrain in the truck and it might be a
quaint little parts chaser :-) I used to drive the truck around town
quite often until the brakes started acting up, now i just start it and
move it once in a while.
It has a '68 1600 Roadster engine: 5-main, very low miles on rebuild,
+.020 pistons, all balanced, crankshaft journals are standard sized
and micropolished, leaky rear main seal from not being driven :-) I
had hoped to eventually buy a Roadster body and transplant this
drivetrain into it, but i just don't have the time to get into another
project. The engine is in great shape. I'd like to see all this go to
a 1600 Roadster enthusiast so i'm posting it to the list and i am
holding off putting it in the Recycler for the time being.
Transmission is a '67 Roadster 4-speed in fair shape.
Roadster 3:89 rear axle and brakes with aluminum drums.
Lowback '67 Roadster seats w/decent tan naugahide.
120 mph 69-70 Roadster speedometer adapted into dash.
Also includes a spare 1600 Roadster engine ('67=, 5-main,
rebuilt once or twice in it's life, ran when it was pulled from a
67= donor car 15 years ago and has been in storage ever since).
Spare Roadster 4-speed trans from same '67= donor car
2 Hitachi SU's from a 2000 with modified needles, mounted on a
spare 1600 intake manifold (i seem to remember it worked fairly well)
Stack of new gaskets for Pacesetter Header-to-head flange
Two Clymer Repair Manuals (both are 1600/2000 thru 1970 )
Bob Sharp Competition Preparation Manual (original, fair shape, all there)
Chilton's 61-72 Datsun Repair and Tune Up Guide (all models)
Chilton's 70-79 Pickup Repair and Tune Up Guide (trucks only)
------------------------------------------------
Spare Parts for the L-320 Truck:
Datsun L-320 Factory Parts Book w/all the #'s
Spare Hood (in very good shape)
Two Front Fenders (fair condition)
Rear step bumper with hitch ball
Spare dashboard with gauges
New steering kingpin Rebuild Kit in original box
2 new front suspension tension rods
A few boxes of L-320 bits and pieces
$800 takes it all (can't separate), and buyer has to tow or drag it
from my home in El Segundo, Calif. The brake problem makes it
too scary to drive safely.
