How about this upgrade - The gerbil would still work at low speeds, but at
track speeds have a windmill driven pump as the airflow over the car can
drive it. You could also mount it on a moving bracket so that it can be
swung forward to effectively lengthen the car for those photo finishes - the
extra foot or so of length would help win the races!
