Perhaps they are outlawed because they tend to catch inside of your coat sleeve and you can no longer steer. That happened a couple of times to me before I wised up and removed mine - years ago. (They were really handy when driving the farm tractor and weaving around corn shocks; many, many sharp turns close together - and little chance of a collision. Could be handy during auto cross?)
