I've been told you can get good results with the original filter casing (for 
the Solex's, anyway - dunno about SU's) as they have really good flowing 
intakes, but the trick is to sandwich in TWO paper filters.  Much better 
airflow - which leads to measurable HP! (funny what little things can do)

I've still got the old spongy cleanable type, but I'll switch over and 
report in about a month...
