Hey All!
I spent most of my birthday on a plane from Newark, NJ where I had been on a
business trip. Got to go to New York City for the first time. (SOHO mostly
which was really fun) People in New York like their pasta Al Dente, smoke
like chimneys, and play dance music in all of their restaurants.
Anyhow, my girlfriend Liz picks me up at the airport in Her 70 2000. I was
glad to see her and wrapped up in newspaper was obviously something I had
wanted for a long time.
My 67 2000 has a 68 bumper on it. The one with the indentation for the
license plate light. It's an OK bumper but not correct. I had always planned
to get a correct one, but they are not that easy to find. I had always
assumed that I would pick up the best one I could find and have it
staightened and chromed when the car goes in next year.
I had dropped outrageously unsubtle hints to Liz that I wanted one for my
birthday and thought she might get me a good used one. Instead, I took the
paper off and found a TOTALLY clean and newly chromed rear bumper! I thought
of the olympic games where soccer announcers scream that long
"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL"!
So I had a great birthday and a wonderful girlfriend who knows what roadster
guys like. BTW, the bumper was carefully repackaged and will wait until the
car gets redone to make its public debut.
On another note, our club T-shirts are almost done. I have taken some orders
and will make them available for general purchase from the website soon.
They look great.
See you at Doheny!
