My first car was a Datsun 1600 (as they're referred to here) 510. Yes, it's
a 1600 ohc - quite different from the roadster motors (L series?), and
independant rear end. Those things handle really well, they're light, the
standard exhaust manifold was a set of 4-2-1 headers, and it had the
smallest turning circle of any car I've ever owned. Certainly I miss that
car! Had some great times in it. The only car I've had since that I
haven't thought "Gee, I wish it was the Datsun" is my Roadster!
On that note, though, has anyone tried putting an IRS rear end into a
roadster? Might make an interesting project - kind of "what if they'd kept
them going" sort of thing.
Cheers,
Steve
