>From my experience with the two 1500's that I have had, it appears that they 
inserted the year of the car in the VIN.  For example, if the actual vin on 
the frame is SPL310 01234, and the car was destined to be a 64 model, then 
the vin on the ID plate would read SPL310 01234 when it left the factory.  
At the dealership, it hangs around and does not sell until 1965.  Then the 
vin miraculously becomes either 4-SPL310 01234 or SPL310-4-01234.  Either 
way, the car that is for sale DOES appear to be a 1964 1500.

If anyone decides to get it and it needs carbs, I have a spare set on the 
shelf! ;-)
