Do you like to see how fast a corner can be taken before you just slid out
and lose it? Do you want to know how fast you can slow down from 60 mph and
still make a 90 degree right hand closing radius turn? Ever just want to
make a dotted yellow line down the middle of the road into a slalom?
Well, what's stopping you? The SCCA has clubs in most major cities that
run SOLO II Autocross, gymkhana to us old folks, cone slaughter to the
kids, most every month. There are classes for everything and anything
except 4X4s and locomotives. You can test you skills against any other car
there since you all run the same track, without traffic to get in your way,
or big brother pulling you over. Most clubs will allow non-members to run
for a couple extra bucks, and some clubs will allow open roadsters with out
roll bars. For a club near you check out <http://www.scca.org>.

And in case you're wondering, no, my 1600 isn't ready for it yet. This
Sunday I get a chance to drive my son's Plymouth Laser RS at the NEO SCCA
A/X. He took first in his class a few weeks ago at a dual meet. I'm really
hopeful I can get it off the line without stalling it!
