I've read warnings that there should be a heat shield protecting the driver's side motor mount and the pan gasket from heat radiating from the exhaust manifold. On my 1600 engine, I installed a new motor mount OK with a hand made heat shield. But I'm puzzled about the pan gasket. There is almost zero clearance between the exhaust manifold (late model, three stud type) and the pan. I don't see how to insert any kind of shield between them. What's the secret?
