Yes, the plate is quite often a pain, what with rust and getting beat up by
rocks, etc. It's been
easier for me to drop the lower A-arm than to remove the lower spring perch,
but that's because the
comp springs are short enough that by the time you loosen the A-arm, the
springs are unloaded. No
need for a spring compressor.
The upper A-arm bolts are what hold the A-arm to the frame. They have a habit
of working loose over
time.
As for parts, it's probably easier to just order the correct kit of parts from
one of the vendors
than to try to get the Parts Dept guys to understand roadsters. YMMV.
