You say your weather stripping has been stripped by the weather? You say
your rubber gaskets have more cracks than than the waiting room in a plastic
surgeon's office? And your grommets are grungy from from grease and grime?
And your wallet's flatter than last year's road kill? Is that what's
troubling you, friend?
Then try these amazing products, guaranteed not not to rust, bust, wear,
tear, rip in the middle or sag at the seams, and you can't beat them for
speed and economy. Yes, I'm talking about a remarkable revolution in rubber
repair, available from J. C. Witless and other fine stores near you, at a
nominal cost. You too can have new rubber, restored without remorse, and
here's what you want:
PLASTI DIP Spray-On Flexible Rubber Coating. Aerosol product that can be
used to coat anything (rubber or non-rubber) with a flat black film that can
be built up with additional coats.
PLASTI DIP Liquid Electrical Tape. Comes in a small can with a brush.
Basically a thicker version of the aerosol product, this stuff can be used
to repair cracked insulation on wiring, to insulate a new connection, or to
fill in cracks in weatherstripping or in gaskets, or even to patch holes (if
you first put some backing behind the hole). Especially effective when the
spray can is used for final finish.
Seriously, PLASTI DIP won't substitute for something that's absolutely shot,
but it does a very respectable job with minor damage from age, friction or
weather. As long as the item has some useful life left, PLASTI DIP is an
economical tool for the thrifty Roadster restorer. Enjoy.
