If you are careful you can rebuild it with a long lawnmower or
motorcycle cable. (I used the eight footer from Pep boys)
The handle housing can be carefully
disassembled. Do this slow and note where
the little parts go. Tricky part is bending the new cable in a U
and then snapping the housing back together.
Some medical forceps work well here. Leave
plenty of extra length, cause you only want to fool with
the handle part once. Once you have the handle back
together, just slip the outer housings(you cut the long one in two)
over the two cables. If you used the cheap lawnmower kind
some shrink tube or electrical tape will make it fat
enough for a press fit. Then, run them to the carbs,
and trim to fit. Measure twice, cut once.
If you destroy it you are only out a few bucks
for the lawnmower cable, your original was broken
anyway. Motorcycle cable, or the cable in the
Northern tools and hydraulics catalog, is black plastic
coated and looks more original.
