Yes, solex cars are fun, but so are 1500s  and they all may have
"enough" power.
I think 200-225 HP is more like it,  10 lbs per HP makes for a fun car.
My car is about as light as you are going to get for a street car ( no
side glass, spare, ...) and I still need 45 more horses for the car and
25 to off set my fat ass to get there
