Larry,
Why are you taking apart the brakes? Are the leaking? If so I've found
that most of the front pistons are pitted beyond repair. The rears may
also be pitted. If so you can't properly hone the aluminum bores.
If you want to take apart the front brakes, don't pry them apart. The is
a guide rod that you will bend. Don't ask me how I know. You can used
compressed air but make sure that you wrap the assemble so the exploding
piston will not hurt you.
My feeling is that if your brakes are not working properly and that if the
components are 30+ years old, replace everything. A improperly running
engine is annoying, bad brakes are death.
