Sounds like the connecting rods let go. Saw that in a 240Z being raced @
Watkins Glen awhile back.

Coincidently I was at a Nissan Dealership today and I was looking at
some of the old engines in the back 2 of them were KA24's and both had
large holes on the side of the blocks. After talking to the techs they
told me that they were both abused by street racers.

In this area there are a lot of new model 240SX's for sale close to 3K
for a
straight bodied high mileage car. Is there something wrong with this
car
that costs a lot to rebuild. It is not a bad looking car and at this
price
it may make a good V8 project. Are their engines and trans good for a
Roadster swap or does this car run the KA24 motor that is tall and tends
to
crack blocks.
