Hello list,
I'd like to take this opportunity to announce that the Southern California
Roadster Owners Club is now officially on line and ready to start off the
new year by launching our website and cooardinating our first meet. You may
remember about a month ago, I announced my intentions to form the club and
with the input of many, intended to create a web site and set the date for
our first meet.
I received many enthusiastic responses, received some picture and got the
site going. The date for the meet is set for February 6th, 2000 at El Dorado
Regional Park in Long Beach, Ca. I have received many confirmations from
people who are planning to attend. I am very excited about meeting other
roadster owners, checking out the cars, eating way too much food, ejoying
the day and just starting off our club on a posiiove note. I am planning to
have a picnic and to provide enough food to feed about 20 people. Since it
is a picnic, I invite friends, families, interested people and anyone
elsewho wants to come. Just bring your car (maybe some food) and your sense
of fun.
The name "Southern California" has brought some comments from owners in the
San Diego, Inland empire, and San Fernando areas. Yes, you are also
"Socalers" and you are invited to join the club and bring your cars. ANYONE
can join our club. The only restriction is that the events will be generally
organized in the Los Angeles/Orange county areas. But please feeel free to
come. I'd LOVE to see Barrie Strachan's car (it's the cool 66 on the
calendar) or Dennis Currington's autocross car. My car will not be the
prettiest, but it will be there.
So mark your calendars folks! I'd love to see some BADROC and maybe even
WYCROC people at the event. It will be a nice time and will help us start
SoCalROC right!
I had originally intended to make this announcement on January 1st, but with
Y2K, my email server will be down then for a while, so I thought it best to
make the announcement now. Thanks to all the people who helped with this. We
are going to have a great club and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
See you on the road!
