When my brother was racing 2000 in SCCA in the 70s I was driving a hot MGB
with a volvo P1800 in it. He found a 69 2000 that the PO had spent lots of
maint. dollars on, tried to sell to recoup the $, couldn't and mysteriously
caught on fire.... might have been the under dash reg.
No interior, dash, windows, paint (3layers) peeled 2' out from the
passenger compartment, lead melted from rear seams.
My brohter had found a 2000 rollover with 1700 orig. miles on it... cost me
$50, and I got the burnout and interior parts from the rollover.
Stripped all the paint off, repainted, re did the interior, only to find a
warped head on start up. My Dad hand made a head shim (between head and
block - 2 head gaskets) ran OK.... I wanted to use the compression from
lowering the head, so we dropped it and built cam tower shims. Starter
would barely turn it over! ran _quite_ well tho..... liked 350 vettes on
curvys!
