I was wondering how much movement is acceptable for the motor. How do I

if I should change the motor mounts? When the car is at idle I can see the
oilpan moving slightly. And when I play with the throttle to "blip" the
carbs the motor moves quite abit.
Any suggestions on the change to more solid mounts? Easy to do?

Michael,
Hi, how are you and Mary doing? We got all moved in here in Maine, both got
jobs and things are going great.
To check the motor mounts, you can put a block of wood under the oil pan and
gently jack up the engine and watch for separation of the rubber and metal
parts of the mounts. It sounds like one or both are bad. If so, I would
replace them both. Also check your trans mount, though it isn't subject to
the same forces.
