OK that will be quite enough late model dash flames...A perfect or "Just
Dashes" redo late style
dash with a pretty set of gauges and all new knobs is a pretty thing to behold.
Deep sunken gauges,
curvacious, not bad for a cheap Japanese sports car.
Personally I think the 67.5 year dash is THE UGLY one. Dull black instrument
rims,
the UGLY 2 instrument clusters, UGLY satined-out chrome, UGLY,DULL, UGLY
The 66 dash is the pretty one, pretty gauges, pretty trim, classy styling.
OH yes and the 1500 dashes, they get a close UGLY 2nd prize. Dorky half way
funktional
(no not a typo) gauges, a giant "Oh Sh%$" handle to the right (Must have had a
clearance
on Nippondenso file drawer handles), an afterthought Windshield washer pump
stuck on the
bottom with an L bracket, A map light that look like it came from a marine
application, and best
of all, best of all, an ASH TRAY LARGE ENOUGH TO SERVICE A WAFFLE HOUSE. Guy's
that ain't beauty....thats butt UGLY.
BTW for any one who hasn't driven one, that OH Sh&* handle was because of the
drum brakes!!!
They went to the 66 dash because some smart guy fired the designer that came up
with all that
UGLY crap!
Stand up for yourselves late model owners!
And, while we are at it,
I would have to point out that the late models are the ones that that look
great tricked out. Lowered, 15" Panasports or American Libre's, Padded roll
bar, take off the goofy side trim and those are fairly pretty fender curves.
That's a Datsun Roadster. It sceams "Catch me if you can..."
Do all that to a 65 and it will just look silly with those anemic little fender
flares.
I have a right to criticize. I have a least one of each here to torment me!
