Yes. Probably valve guides.
Another question. When my car is started up cold I don't need to give it
any gas to start it. However, if the engine is still hot I need to depress
the gas pedal to the floor in order for it to start up. >>
Overly rich. When hot, opening the throttle allows more air for the mix.
Check your choke cables, choke mechanism, and fuel mixture. Come to think of
it, the floats or needle valves could be allowing fuel to overfill the bowls
and flood the cylinders. Try cranking just a little when it is cold, then
pull a plug to determine if it is oil or gas fouling it.
