Subject: Rear Nismo Springs Installed
>Hello,
>
>Well, I finally installed my new set of Nismo Leaf Springs. I was quite
>apprehensive at first as I have heard alot about how stiff and jarring the
>ride would end up. Well, all those who made that comment were right! The
>ride is alot different. Much stiffer. I have a new respect for those S.F.
>Municiple Railway Tracks. But as everyone knows, Calspeed has a short
story
>to go with this installation.
>
>When the old leafs were removed I noticed that one of the leaf spring
>"hangers?" had a crack in it! I dont know how long it has been there. But
>just seeing that freaked me out. It didn't look like it was gonna hold any
>longer. And while I was underneath I decided to check the rear shocks. I
>couldn't believe it. They were not even working. And one was even alittle
>loose. They went straight up and had no rebound. A new set of KYB's were
>installed in place of those.
>
>I am not sure how long the car was running on those worn out components.
The
>car ran great on the street and track. So I thought. I had no idea of the
>impending failure of those key components. To tell you all the truth, I
felt
>stupid at not checking all of those things prior to getting on the road.
And
>to think I drove it on a road course?! With those blown out shocks I was
>basically running on just leaf springs and bump stops.
>
>Well, the car handles nicely and sits quite low. Looks very nice and
>aggressive. Tomorrow I will wash it and take some pics. I just hope we
have
>another one of those great California days. Ahhhhh... who am I kidding.
We
>will. Be safe and check out your cars periodically.
