It really was not physically difficult. I put in a second fuse panel and ran
power to it. This drives the fuel pump, electric fan and computer. I bought
a Nissan 300ZX Shop manual (useless) and borrowed a Beck Arnely Fuel
Injection Manual (great). Also Michael Spreadbury from Oregon who put a VG
into his 510 was an outstanding resource. The one thing I found when wiring
this together is grounds and shielded grounds are very important. I could
not get it started for about 2 weeks and found a shielding I had not
grounded. Did that and it fired right up. The pinout of the computer was the
key. Once I had that from the Beck book, things went happily along. I think
I went through about 3 lbs of solder as everything is soldered as opposed to
crimp connectors.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.

Eric,

I'm in the 'strategy planning' stage of this very swap, specifically a
KA24DE (twin cam, 16 valve, 155HP/160ft.lb with LOTS of room for
improvement).....got mine from a local yard, including wiring harness,
computer, MAF sensor, starter, clutch, transmission, drive shaft - not
very cheap in terms of a lump sum cash outlay, but a person could easily
spend as much to properly and completely rebuild a U-20 with modern
ignition, etc. ........I welcome any and all comments and suggestions
from others on the list who have done this particular swap - when it
comes to things like mating the electronics of the new engine with the
original 30+ year old wiring of the car, having someone who has done it
will make the process less of a trial and error pain in the
butt.......hey, that includes you guys that have transplanted those
beautiful VG30s - your former wiring woes would be almost identical to
mine present ones.....Don Miller, the Maw brothers, anyone else?
