Jim, Don't take the liner out. The brake drum is an assembly and can be machined if needed, that way. Sorry, I don't remember the max. diameter of the drums, but I do remeber the specs on the rotors. New should be .410", and minimum thickness is .350". If you are down close to this min, however you may get really bad squealing and you'll want to replace them anyway.
