Hi all,
This is a long shot, but I have a car for sale that might
interest some on this list. Or maybe someone from the "Z"
list can forward this to that list for me.
Anyway, here's the scoop: As I'm restoring my '68 2L, there is
a lonely Datsun 280Z race car right next to it that needs a new
home. It is a 1976 model, and is fully prepped for SCCA Improved Touring "S"
racing. In fact, I've raced it four times this year and it needs
NOTHING to go racing. Now, if you want to win, that's another
story altogether! It is currently "on loan" to me by its owner, who
isn't interested in racing it anymore. I have a new race car on the
way so I need to get it out of my garage!
Here's what you'd get:
76 280Z, BLUE, nice body, very straight.
INTERIOR:
Full roll cage, custom built, very nice, with high door bars.
Butler Built seat 16".
Removable steering wheel.
Wink mirror, small racing mirrors on doors.
SAFETY:
RCI Fuel cell (12 gal.) with nice aluminum bulkhead w/ trap door.
5 point safety harness (good through 2000)
welded seatback brace (not a bolt-on).
Fire bottle (extinguisher)
Battery kill switch
GO FAST STUFF:
Ceramic coated race header w/ 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust system.
K&N Filter on an "iceman" type filter tube (powder coated)
Bottom end race-prepped by Tarheel racing.
Adjustable fuel mixture control (RICH/LEAN) on dash.
Ground Control camber plates on front (VERY NICE PIECES!)
Koni adjustable shocks all four corners (Two probably needed rebuilding)
Suspension techniques sway bars front and rear
Delrin bushings on front, Aluminum/Delrin camber bushings on rear
Fully adjustable coil over springs on all four corners (Ground Control kits)
New polyurethane front spoiler w/ brake duct holes
New racing plug wires
Hawk Blue front brake pads, HD rear shoes
(4) Panasport 14x7 wheels w/ Toyo Proxes RA-1's (very light and nice!)
(4) Steel 14x7 wheels (w/ Toyo Proxes RA-1's)
Some spares (mostly OEM stock stuff like dist. caps, bearings, etc.)
Welded 3.54 diff
5 spd transmission, Spare 4 spd transmission
Price: $3500! The owner is more interested in road racing his
Mazda Miata than this car, so he's ready to deal.
This would be an excellent starter car for someone wanting to go
road racing, or to do track events like Car Guys, or even auto-
cross. In fact, I'm taking the car to an auto-x event this weekend
in NC (it runs in B-street prepared against other Z's, Corvettes).
I won our club's last event with it!
Thanks for your time and interest,
Mark Coffin
