My first car was a 1959 MGA, and it never leaked oil nor water, and unlike
the steel in my friends Triumphs and Healeys, the wood floor boards never
rotted through.
Of course it did have throughly unreliable(except for the twin 6 volt
batteries wired in series under the car in front of the rear axel) Lucas
ignition and electrics, an SU electric fuel pump that regularly failed, and a
1920s technology non rotating graphite throw out bearing that never lasted
very long, and just like the roadster, you had to yank the engine to get to
the clutch. The hand crank, stored in the trunk also came in handy several
times. When I replaced it with my roadster in '67 it was like steping into
the modern age.
