Drilled oil passage. The drilling is to allow for an internal passage,
then is normally plugged after that step.

Talk to your machinist. It should be refitted with a brass plug.
Personally I like to drill and tap for a threaded plug to be installed,
but no need to do that now that the head is on the car.
Not the first time I have heard of "missing plugs" on the cylinder
head. Sigh. Of humor, I once bought a Datsun 510, with a new carb.
The old carb was in the trunk... in near perfect condition, but
missing a plug about the size of a dime! Ya, car didn't seem to run
with that big of an air leak in it.
