Ian,

On the BRAKES: I tell people to do them FIRST before doing
engine work! Reason is once you have that fresh motor in
the roadster, you will want to DRIVE IT!

Popped into a friends cars, and tore off down the road.
Hit the brakes at the stop sign... and went right through
the intersection. Only ONE REAR WHEEL CYLINDER was functioning!

I was upset, and his comment was "roadsters have horrible brakes!"
Took my roadster for a ride, and told him to pull his seat
belt tight.... as I tried an emergency stop! He nearly went
through the windshield!

[Rotors were turned way to thin... pads had some meat left on
tem, but the pistons bottomed out on the caliper frame].

When I pull an engine, I unbolt the slave cylinder. Piece
of wire around the pushrod, andslave cylinder keeps the piston
in place.

While you have a 1600 transmission out, it is a great time to
replace the little needle roller bearings in the transmission.
Any other roadster folks aorund your parts? Simple once you have
done it!

Good time to replace ALL fuel line, heater hoses (heater valve
on a low windhshield car), and raditor hoses, too.

Cheers,

Tom
