Dear All,
I've had several requests for hopped up 2L SU's. The best hop-up for a 240Z
SU is a roadster needle. What grinds work best for the Roadsters, and what
is the source? mfg part numbers, ect...
Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to reinvent the wheel here, if
someone else has the facts.

As a side, isn't it interesting that the 2.4-2.8L Z and the 2.0 Roadster
both use the same size carb (1 3/4). The Roadster needle is very short and
thin, and a lot more gas passes. But the 2L roadster piston spring is much
longer and stiffer than the Z, so the piston on the 2L won't go up as fast
for the same volume of air that passes.

Remember that the SU is a variable venturi carb. The "barrel" size actually
varies in size to adjust to what the engine needs. Needles and springs are
used to fine tune how quickly the air and fuel gets in.
If you used a 240Z (has a soft spring) and a 240Z needle on a 2L roadster,
how would it perform?

If the air/fuel mix ratio is the same for both cars (14.7:1), and the
variable venturi only supplies enough of this ratio to feed the cubic inches
pulling through the mouth of the carbs, then why different needles and
springs?
Why a rich needle and stiff spring to compensate for the rich needle?

Also, we found that the 1600 Roadster carbs use the same sealed bearing as
the VolvoP1800S. So if you want new throttle shafts for your 1600Roadster,
we can do them in stainless w/ss Teflon-sealed bearings (RollerShafts).

Also, D+G Valve reports that it will be another 2 weeks before I see our
Grose Jets. Sorry for the delay. This order is enormous for them.. If
anyone needs their $ back, just ask.
