I'm a big Clark fan, enjoyed "...At the Wheel", now regard it as a bit of a
publicity job.
Eric Dymock's recent book, Jim Clark Tribute...published just a couple years
ago, gives a much, much
more interesting, and unvarnished look at Clark's life and career. At first
I thought it was negative,
but on re-reading, and reflection, regard it as a more likley accurate, and
ultimately remarkable report,
as it includes some of Clark's difficulties, uncertainties, even
shortcomings...same as we all
struggle with. '
Indeed, Clark's original racing mentor, and lifelong friend, Ian
Scott-Watson, described the book after reading it as saying "it is as if
Clark walked into the room!"
Dymock's book makes Clark a real human being instead of bigger than life
legend....if that make sense.
I recommend it.
