On the way home from vacation, I visited the "Barber Vintage Motorsports
Museum" in Birmingham, Alabama. What a deal!!! Privately endowed with BIG
bucks, it's the largest motorcycle museum in the US with some 700 bikes. It
has a "road show" of motorcycles touring various museums including the
Guggenheim in New York and a vintage race team which appears at venues all
over the world. They do their own restoration including everything except
plating. The Lotus connection is that they have branched into Lotus as an
addition to the cycles. On display or under restoration are:
a Nine, an Eleven, an Elite S2, two 18s, a 21, a ex-Gurney 29 and an
ex-Whiteside 30.
I'll be going back every chance I get.
