Hi Tor,

The friend I contacted is the same Ken Claiborne who is going over to see 
Carroll Smith today.  Since I saw that he (Ken) sent you a response, I 
know he'll be ready to get you the books if you decide to order.

It's reasonable to be concerned that the books may be only relevant to 
racing because they are from that perspective.  But what is so valuable 
about these books is the way Carroll Smith explains overall, basic 
principles and concepts in terms of his real world race-preparation 
experience, in down-to-earth language.  The commonality in logic and 
technique between hard-core race preparation and improving a street car 
becomes obvious.  I like the fact that these are not "how-to" books but 
rather, books that give you the tools to think any problem or task out 
for yourself.  I think that is the reason they are often identified as 
"must haves".

I hope you end up getting them.
