Yes, it was a slushbox, but I find it hard to believe the block bolt
patterns are different. I am familiar with annular clutch release - I
drooled over the low inertia set ups made by tilton....... some serious
money, me thinks!

And yes - bolt gearbox to plate and then plate to bellhousing. You would
have to make a stand off the plate for the clutch fork to pivot on, but the
lack of a hole means you could put it anywhere.
 
The problem with the 3A coupled to a manual tranny (Hope I am not stating
the obvious - I suspect there is a little confusion) is that the manual 3A
tranny is not a T-50 ...... I think it is a K-series box ie integral
bellhousing. So, although you can get a 5 speed box off a 3A, it is not
overly strong.
