I am trying to determine how much to tighten the hose clamps. Last year I
replaced the 5/16" FI hoses and regular clamps (PO) with the proper fuel
injection hoses and FI clamps. Ever since I am plagued with leaks. It is
hard to know when to stop tightening them because there is little change in
the resistance, and no visual appearance that indicates how much the hose is
being compressed. With heater hose clamps, you can seee the rubber
beginning to extrude thru the slots. Are they meant to be tightened all the
way? Or do I need a better quality clamp? The ones I got at Pep Boys.
Maybe a speed shop would have better ones.
I have tightened some of the clamps all the way. One I replaced with a 1/4"
and that seems to be working, but this should not be the fix. Thanks for
any suggestions.
