Unless I am mistaken, I do recall reading that Ford did indeed buy Land Rover
from BMW last year. At the same time, the BMIHT, the official holder of the
Rover Group Heritage information and also owned by BMW, was spun off as a
separate historical organization no longer under control of BMW due to the
historical significance of the museum and archives. I believe the Consortium
was aiming for ownership of the BMIHT and all the Rover Group Marques, but
from what I understand they did not get what they wanted.
To get to the facts straight, I have inquired to the BMH club liaison
for a full explanation of the current relationships between Ford, BMW, and
Rover. When he responds, I'll post the result to the list for everyone.
