BTW - thanks to the listers that responded - one actually HAD a
flexplate! But I had already obtained one by then. 

My mechanic in response to my question on how I could possibly snap two
flexplates within 9 months said : 'ummm driver abuse'.

An outrageous slur.

Any thoughts on building a bulletproof flexplate anyone ?
