I got a cheap, but adequate set at Enco ( http://www.use-enco.com/ ) for
about $20.  They call them "Telescoping Gauge Sets", and also offer ones
made by Mitutoyo ($120) and Browne & Sharpe ($140).  (These prices are
from my 97 catalog, so may have gone up.)

Rutland ( http://www.rutlandtool.com/ ), McMaster Carr (
http://www.mcmaster.com/ ), and MSC (new owner of Enco, don't have their
URL handy) should have them too.
