If you are in Sydney this weekend, you might want to visit the CMC (Council
of Motor Clubs) Display Day at Eastern Creek International Raceway on the
western outskirts of Sydney.
There will be 1800+ vehicles on display. Not just British cars, although
they will be in the majority, but also a great variety of other cars plus
motorbikes and commercial and military vehicles.
Most vehicles will be given the opprtunity for a slow speed drive, no
overtaking, around the track.
At lunchtime there will be a 7/10ths racing display by HSRCA (Historic
Sports and Racing Car Association) featuring Australian Specials, plus other
open-wheelers and sports racing cars. This will be followed by another
7/10ths racing display by the Group S Association featuring Classic Sports
Cars and by the Appendix J Association featuring Classic Saloon Cars (I hope
to have my Oxford running in this). Most of these cars will be competing in
the HSRCA all-Historic Race Meeting at Eastern Creek on 8/9-September (this
is a big meeting with 300+ competitors).
If you haven't been to the CMC event before, or an HSRCA race meeting, it is
worth a visit - the array of vehicles is superb in terms of variety and
quality of presentation. Also, everybody is very sociable.
Hope to meet some of you there.
Regards....Andrew "Axeman" Pursey....1955 Morris Oxford (racing in Group Na
Classic Saloon Cars), 1956 Morris Isis, 1958 MGA+, 2000 Land Rover Discovery
V8 (great tow vehicle)
