Hello lug nuts:
Well, I finally can give something back to everyone who's been so helpful as
I work on my TR7.
First, with the help of Andy, Herald948@aol.com, I've made contact with Brett
Johnson who has an inventory of original 1970s lugnuts for Minilites he
bought by the pound from a bankruptcy sale. He's a veterinarian, writes
sports car books, edits the Indiana Triumph Cars newsletter, and apparently
owns a TR3 and a bathtub Porsche.
He's got more than 36 different types of bolts and nuts for Minilites, and
the critical item for me is the 12x1.5 low dome nuts with an external shank
diameter of .7 and a shank length of .85, and 1/8" washers. The nuts even
have the pinhole in the cap that no one knew what I was talking about!
And he also has left-handed nuts for Alfa Romeos. Contact Brett at the

I just finished replacing all the lug nuts on my TR7, took it for a spin, and
was delighted to find the vibration in the steering wheel at around 55mph had
almost completely disappeared. I zoomed up to 70 mph and the steering wheel
stayed smooth. Apparently with the bizarre mix of lug nuts I had, the
Minilites simply weren't centered on the wheels.
