Subject: Re: Seeking Net wisdom on MGB V8 conversion
The best way to get a MGB-V8 SMOGed in California is to save the
original engine. Install the original engine, get the SMOG sticker
then reinstall the V8. Some clubs keep an A.I.R. pump for the very
same reason. Members check it out from the club, have the inspection
done then return it.
Also, acording to the MGB Leyland factory manuals, the V8 weighs LESS than the
cast iron 1.8 l 4 banger. So a V8 car would be lighter than the stock
ones.
If you put in a V8 you best put on the V8 disks and calipers to stop the thing.
