Practicality is in the eye of the fabricator. This being at least a "C" series
engine, I'd suggest first looking at the mechanical aspects. This engine,
with the cam driven dizzy, radial oil pump and belt driven water pump no
longer has a jack shaft, or provisions for one. That's how far the design has
evolved. So, will a TR7 oil pan fit? Can you build a pickup? Will the backing
plate bolt up? How about engine mounts? I do believe the spot on the starboard
side of the block; where the TR7 "outrigger" bolts up; is now occupied by a
spin-on oil filter. Will the head even clear the TR7 strut tower? While I
work on both cars, I've never looked at them with the thought of conversion.
I do not know the answers to these questions, and probably a thousand more
before the project is done.
