Orin Hatch recently mentioned "Old Speckeled Hen" and told a bit
of the story. The car is pictured on page 18 of
ike Allison's "The Magic of the Marque" I've had the pleasure of this
fine drink on our trips to England and often bring a few bottles/cans
back which have become popular door prizes at club meetings. The
container also tells the story and does have a very familiar
octogon label. Morland describes it as "strong pale ale...named
after an unusual speckled vintage MG car, Old Speckled Hens's individual
character is as distinctive as its name. It is produced, using
only the finest hops and malt, to a unique recipe that reflects over
280 years of brewing tradition. Old Specled Hen is brewer in Abingdon upon
Thames by Morland, brewers of fine beer since 1711."
sorry about the typos but I am off to party...BTW my son's brother-
in-law in the UK has this very interesting job. He drives a lorry
delivering hops etc to breweries large and small. Next year
I've been promised a two day trip with him on a run into
Scotland. It I survive I will relay the story!

Happy Christmas to all
