Yes it is true, Lucas = State of the Art. At least it did... I just had
the alternator rebuilt for my C/GT. The guy that rebuilt it is a long time
electrical rebuilder and started with Lucas in 73. He said that my
alternator was the state of the art for 69. It took GM until 71-72 before
they started putting the voltage regulator internal to the alternator
instead of using a separate control box. So, all you Joe Lucas fans (if you
are still running) can stand proud and claim you ushered in a new era.
