Daren,
I only know enough about Europas to lust after one,
since I autocross, I'd LOVE to try one around the cones! Good luck
& keep us posted.
Regarding SU pumps, I'm still on the one my B came with,
>10 years now, no problems. Actually, I've had VERY few electrical
problems with this car, I've replaced the ignition coil, starter,
heater fan switch, temp sender & will replace the hazard switch. By
contrast, my Bimmer has had practically everything electrical
replaced, and as you may know, Bosch costs exponentially more than
Lucas. As a point of reference, I average 3,000-5,000 miles a year
in the B, used as a daily driver in the summer, weekend trips all
over New England, the usual.
Let me second the person who says the club is only good
as the people who are in it (Thanks for the NEMGCC info, Dick!). In
my case, I try to include my family in the event where I can,
granted, my wife gets tired of car shows, autocrosses, etc., before
I do, my daughter is like me, can't get enough, but sometimes we'll
shake things up & maybe go to a car event, but not something we'd
normally go to, like a general car show with all makes, or a
different marque. Or just Charlotte (my daughter, 3 going on 30)
and I will go, kid seat in the MG & off-road stroller strapped on
the (removable) luggage rack, top-down & we're off! She also loves
the pits at Lime Rock, her favorites were the Abarth's (mothers
side!).
My 2p
